Nothing more, nothing less. Do I recommend getting DareSora now? No. Will I change that in the future? Possibly.There is really nothing to recommend the game in its current state. As a prologue, it is pretty dull and anti-climatic. The foreshadowing so obvious there is no payoff. There are no answers given, only questions made. The characters are paper thin caricatures that we are barely introduced to, making us not care about the obvious outcome. By the end of the week, the only thing we really know about any of the characters \u2013 including the main character and the oracle \u2013 is their name and personality type. The main character spends the entire prologue simply complaining about the outcome of the week and nothing more. With future chapters I do hope the story improves, as it is it feels like a waste of my $3.To discuss the game itself. The illustrations are consistently well done, and lend a professional flair to the presentation. As is the generally excellent VA work. This is not matched by the crude menu screen and the limited character animation. In certain scenes characters become "animated" to express their excitement, which is nothing more than their pictures wiggling on the screen. It makes it look like a cheap cardboard puppet show and leaving them static would have been an improvement. Disappointing when there are a fair number of decent middleware solutions now that do a much better job of this.Finally of course is the strange element of chance throughout the prologue. There are three different "endings" and you can visit a choice of 3 out of a pool of 4 locations each playthrough. Which ending you get however is determined randomly when you start, as are which 3 locations you can choose to visit. There is a narrative basis for the randomness, however it seems more a cheap way of getting the player to replay the scenario. The outcome doesn't change anything narratively at this time, just which names are added to a text box near the end. So despite the fact it advertises multiple endings, the ending presented each time is exactly the same except for one text box.. 5\/10 - There is potential here. Nothing more, nothing less. Normally, I wouldn't recommend something like this - story can be 100% completed within an hour of relaxed reading, it's just the prologue of a longer story, RNG determines the ending you get from the moment you press the "start" button.However. If the following entries can keep up with everything this first entry laid down, I have absolutely no doubt that this "series" will become a long-tailed cult classic, and it is a criminal shame that next to nobody is talking about it, let alone playing it.You will most likely figure out what exactly is going down from your first "encounter", but the final moments leading to the "To Be Continued" cliffhanger should more than flip those expectations on their head.Is it currently worth purchasing without any supplemental material to go on (as the next entry is scheduled for October)? In my personal opinion, probably not - HOWEVER, there will be no further entries without proper financial support. If you can not spare the one hour it will take to read it, just get it right now, as well as the following entries, then forget about it until there's enough story content to go through at your own pace. Otherwise, participate in discussion *now* regarding what exactly it means to become "Luminous", and why the protagonist did what he did in those final moments.Honestly, I blame SakuraGames for poisoning the well of cheap VNs, but what can you do other than to support the content that absolutely deserves it?. While incredibly short, to the point of being able to finish it leisurely within 45 minutes, I actually enjoyed DareSora's first part enough to be looking forward to the other, upcoming episodes.It does rather well presenting the reader with a mystery, building up drama and then rushing straight to the lunatic conclusion, which offers more questions, some hints, and insane "fun", competently voice acted. The premise and execution certainly have me intrigued and I didn't have any trouble just breezing through it in one sitting, without getting distracted. The pacing generally works out well, especially seeing how this could be viewed as a prologue episode to the VN.Where it falls a tad short is with its characterizations of three of the four club members, only two plus one of which you are able to meet on a single playthrough, due to start-of-game-randomization. There simply isn't enough time to develop these three characters properly, especially since they prove little more than hangers-on in the group scenes, where the focus is firmly on the protagonist and Mio, the guaranteed character. With only a single choice in the novel, you'll only be able to elaborate a little more on one of the three secondary characters per playthrough, although save/load shenanigans are possible, as these choices do not appear to influence the story beyond the impressions the scenes will give the reader.On the flipside, I thought Mio was rather well-developed and I took a liking to her almost immediately. Her role in the novel going forward is going to be interesting to follow. In that sense, I felt it easy to relate to the protagonist's views. Generally, though, I wish that the other characters had been constructed a little more like Mio's role, at least in terms of building familiarity and depth of relationships, especially since the story flashes ahead and skips a few days at one point - time which could have been used to fill in exactly the kind of scenes that would have benefitted the cast.But then again, the brief nature of the story as a whole, with its relative lack of excess fat, mirrors the opening scene quite clearly. It strips the story of meandering scenes, skips chances for boredom, and reaches its twist with fanfares. I can applaud the author's intent here.Looking at the main menu / banner art, I am certainly hopeful for future episodes to realize more of DareSora's inherent potential. I'll be keeping my eyes and ears open for further releases. As it stands, with only this first, very brief episode, though, I can't say that I didn't get my money's worth out of it, or that I didn't feel satisfied by the way the story was delivered. While I certainly have questions and would be somewhat upset if they decided to not release any more than this, it'd have more to do with the story's potential being snuffed, rather than dissatisfaction with the first episode. Just realize what you're in for and take it on it's own merits.. I confused about the story when I play this game for the first time, I don't know about Tendou Haruka's background and why this game start from "week 6" not "week 1". But I tried to play this and after I finished all stories (gained all achievements), I really interested with this VN and hope the other volumes will release soon!. Short but interesting. Want to see what an actual episode is like.. My experience & readthrough of this is here btw.Intriguing. Inquisitive. But not much essence yet; as it is a first episode only. No spoilers, I'll just say things get very crazy; or well a crazy circumstance and scenario arises very suddenly, the characters you can't grow any affection or attachment to yet as they are extremely briefly introduced except one. Actually one. The other one who has expanded depth is well... the antagonist herself. And last but certainly not least the protagonist himself is a walking identity crisis, since he's just thrown into this scenario he has this huge dilemma with himself and almost comes off as someone with multiple personalities. Who is Haru even? You don't even know based off this episode alone.With that said I like the dialogue, great written atmosphere and profound insight on what's going on, and the antagonist is just... too much for a concise written review. I suppose it whets my interest but I am also extremely obfuscated.. Game crashes when open for around 20 seconds and then the exe literally self destructs itself after closing, 10\/10 would play again.. A unique and interesting prologue.
